Ugbiyoko Community Applauds Obaseki for Progress on Benin Road Project

Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State

Residents and business owners in Ugbiyoko, Benin City, have expressed appreciation to the Edo State government for recommencing work on the Ekhewuan Barracks road, a development that has significantly improved living conditions and business activities in the area.

The road, now paved up to Ogede, has brought relief to the residents who previously endured the challenges posed by its poor condition.

A resident known as Isoken highlighted the positive impact of the road construction. She emphasized that the tarred road has not only facilitated smoother movement for motorists but has also contributed to an enhancement in the area’s economic activities.

Isoken noted, however, that the absence of proper drainage along certain sections of the road has resulted in occasional flooding during rainfall this year. She urged authorities to consider constructing drainages to mitigate future flooding incidents.

“The governor, Godwin Obaseki, has done a commendable job by resuming work on the road. Motorists can now traverse without fear of damaging their vehicles, and businesses have experienced an uptick since construction resumed,” Isoken remarked.

James Osadolor, a building materials vendor in the vicinity, echoed similar sentiments regarding the positive impact on business activities. He observed a notable increase in customers as individuals who had halted their building projects due to the road’s condition have now resumed construction.

“I am delighted that the government has resumed work on the road. Business has witnessed improvement, and residents can now move freely to their workplaces and businesses,” Osadolor affirmed.

He urged the government to expedite the completion of the road project before the end of its tenure in November, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development in fostering community growth and economic prosperity.
