ACCEPT YOUR POSTING IN GOOD FAITH, DG URGES CORPS MEMBERS

Corps Members have been advised to accept their posting to various places of primary assignment in good faith and settle down to contribute their quota to national development by exemplary performances in their host communities.

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed gave the advice today while addressing pressmen after the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Orientation Course held at the NYSC Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp in Kurmi mashi, Kaduna.

He said they should utilize the lessons of the three weeks Orientation Course, adapt to their new environments and perform meritoriously in the remaining three cardinal programmes of the NYSC, namely; Place of Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding-Up/Passing-Out.

“Settle down in your places of Primary Assignment, respect the culture, norms and traditions of the communities you are going to serve and be ready to offer your selfless services to the communities.

Always avoid unnecessary and night journey. Once it is 6pm, break your journey and pass the night in safe places like military barracks, Corps Lodges, NYSC Formations and Police barracks and continue the following day”, he said.

General Ahmed also advised the Corps Members to continue with the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development post-camp training in order to perfect the skills they learnt in camp so as to make them self independent.

“We are in collaboration with many stakeholders that are ready to offer interest-free loans to our Corps Members”, General Ahmed said.

While declaring the Orientation Course closed, the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani encouraged the Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the State as good ambassadors of the NYSC.

Senator Sani, who was represented by the Chairman, NYSC Kaduna State Governing Board, Hajia Rabi Salisu also implored the Corps Members to be law-abiding, diligent and serve as role models.

“Do your best and live in peace as patriotic citizens in the communities you are posted to”, he said.
