ITSEKIRI INTEREST GROUP ACKNOWLEDGES FORMER GOVERNOR DR EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN AS LEADER OF DELTA SOUTH

The Itsekiri Interest Group has issued a formal statement, encouraging Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, to reject any attempts by certain groups to incite division and instability by attempting to disrupt the political structure that recognizes Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as the prominent figure in Delta South politics.

The group emphasized the history of cooperation between the Itsekiris in Warri South and the Urhobos since 2003, highlighting the opportunities provided to the Urhobo community in leadership roles within the local government.

They also raised concerns about the disparities in opportunities extended to the Itsekiri minorities in Delta Central compared to minority groups in Warri Federal Constituency. Mr. Gbubemi Awala, the Chairman, and Mr. Weyinmi Yalaju, the Secretary of the group, expressed these sentiments during a press conference held at the Merrick Lori Cultural Center.

They urged the Governor to counsel his appointees to uphold fairness and inclusivity in their decision-making processes, fostering unity and harmony among the diverse communities in the region.

The Group appeal to the Governor to caution his appointees to be focused on their assignment instead of going to their local government campaigning for support and therefore abandoning their primary assignment.
