Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation Excited, As Chigozie God’stime Sits For 2024 JAMB Examination

*** The Milestone.

The educational progress of Chigozie Godstime, reached a new threshold, as he joined thousands of his peers to sit for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination.

The milestone has generated excitement across the management of Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation and relatives as they look forward with great expectations to see Chigozie get into the university in furtherance of his education, as the Foundation is also poised to see him through his university education.

Recall that, on the 24th of June, 2018, when as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, rescued Chigozie God’stime from his abusive uncle and directed Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation (SOF) to award him full boarding school and all expenses paid scholarship.

Consequently, in line with the promise of Oborevwori, in September 2018, Chigozie attended the Junior Secondary School entrance examination of Jesus Hominum Salvator High School Orerokpe and was admitted into full boarding with all boarding fees paid by the Foundation.

Unfortunately, Chigozie was asked to repeat as he was denied promotion to the next class in the above school due to specific criteria, this was after several interventions by Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation, led by the Coordinator of the Scholarship/Bursary Committee, Chief (Mrs) Esther Egite Onokpasa, a renowned educationist. A close look at Chigozie’s academics then, indicated that in JS1, his Performance Grade Average, were 47.6%, 55.8% and 55.3% for first, second and third term respectively, with good grades in most of the subjects, except mathematics where he had 40%. His performance was understandable, because he was just recovering from the dillema of his abusive uncle.

In the final analysis of the overall academic performance of Chigozie, in JS1, he is clearly above average.

However, due to reasons considered to be in the best interest of Chigozie and convinced about the boy’s potentials, in order not to further dampen his spirit, the committee, recommended his withdrawal from the initial school and re-enrollment in a new school, this is based on the total commitment of the Foundation, towards the education of the young boy. Considering his background, the Chairman of Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, approved the recommendation of the committee to give Chigozie a second chance by relocating him to the new school, Good Shepherd Catholic Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede, which is also a full boarding school. It is worthy of note that, Chigozie performed above average in the entrance examination and was admitted into JS2.

In his present school, Chigozie, has steadily improved academically and promoted through to senior secondary, SS3 and will certainly graduate from Good Shepherd Boys’ Secondary School with his mates soon.

It is heartwarming to note that, Chigozie is not only excelling in his academics but he is also an award winning athlete in several inter-school competitions, with numerous medals in football and other field and track events. He has won several medals.

He is also a formidable member of the school’s football team, where he is a winger and adorns number 7 shirt and has played in the Delta State Principal’s Cup. He is also part of the School’s Basketball Team. In the testimony of his Game-master, he said “Chigozie is a good sports boy”.

The coordinator of Sheriff Oborevwori Scholarship Committee, Chief Mrs Onokpasa, has always seized available opportunity to express profound gratitude to the Chairman of Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation (SOF), His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, for his kind gesture towards Chigozie and other beneficiaries of SOF Scholarship awards over the years.

Remarkably, Chigozie, who was rescued in primary school by the Foundation, participated in the 2024 JAMB examination, at Benchill Schools, Ogunu road, Warri.

To God be the glory!
