The Delta State Commissioner of Police Resolves Okere Community Dispute.

The recent youth leadership tussle in Okere Community which has led to múltiple injuries and break down of law and order in Okere has been resolved by the Delta State Commissioner of police.

The Interim Youth Secretary of Okere Community Comr. Eboma Tuoyo Michael narrated that on the 2nd of April, 2024 the Commissioner of police invited the two warring factions. The first faction led by David Iwere, Daniel Alidu, Happy Iwere and Toju Awani( the assumed factional chairman of okere) and the the second group led by Mr. Fred Olomuro (Chairman Okere Community Management Committee), Mr. Hope Idundun, Mr. Uweja and Kelvin Oludewa (the Interim Youth Chairman of Okere Community).

At the meeting the Commissioner of Police emphasized the fact that the Interim Youth Executives led by Comr. Kelvin Oludewa constituted by the Olare Aja of Okere Community Ogieboro E. F. Esisi should be the rightful youth executives to pilot the affairs of Okere Community. He stated the obvious reality that the Interim led government have the sole authority to rule the community.

Subsequently, he advised the other faction led by David Iwere to work peacefully and allow the Interim Executives to lead the community. Toju Awani was told by the police to stop parading himself as the Youth Chairman of the community until a court of competent jurisdiction proves otherwise.

The police warned and advised all and sundry to live in peace and harmony in Okere Community. He warned that anyone who goes contrary to the decisions reached in the meeting will face the heavy brunt of the law. The present Interim Youth Executives constituted by the Olare Aja of Okere Community were asked to lead the community in peace and unity.
