Warri South Authorities and Community Leaders Condemn Illegal Wado City, Urge Action by Security Agencies

In a united front, the authorities of Warri South Local Government Council, along with community leaders, representatives from the Delta State House of Assembly, and other critical stakeholders, have vehemently denounced the proponents of the illegal Wado City in Warri, Delta State. This strong condemnation was issued during an emergency security meeting held on Monday, January 29, at the Office of the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area.

Chaired by Dr. Michael Tidi, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, the meeting underscored the need to address the issue of the illegitimate Wado City and took a decisive stand against those promoting it. The critical stakeholders included Honourables Augustine Uroye and Benson Obire, representing Warri South Constituencies 1 and 2 in the Delta State House of Assembly, Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development Mr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, Special Adviser to Governor Oborevwori on Niger Delta Affairs Hon. Griftson Omatsuli, prominent aides to the governor on Community Development, as well as representatives from the Nigerian Army, DSS, and Police, along with leaders from Okere and Agbarha communities.

The meeting issued a clear mandate to security agencies, urging them to apprehend anyone contributing to unrest in Warri over the false and non-existent concept of Wado City. The stakeholders emphasized that only billboards authorized by the government should be erected by individuals or organizations. They stressed that it is the prerogative of the government and security agencies to crack down on any form of illegality and maintain law and order at all times.

The united front presented by these community leaders and authorities aims to ensure the peace and security of Warri while upholding the rule of law. The stakeholders emphasized the importance of government-approved initiatives and reiterated their commitment to curbing any activities that go against established regulations.
