Tax: We’ll Continue To Explore Areas That Are Largely Untapped Says Ighrakpa

The Executive Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Services Hon Solomon Ighrakpata has stated that the revenue services under his leadership will continue to explore other areas that are largely untapped in generating revenue for the state government.

He said as a Service we performed excellently well in the 2023 IGR collections where we exceeded the revenue target which he said is
unprecedented in the history of the State.

Ighrakpata who disclosed this Yesterday during a meeting with Members of Civil Society of Nigeria maintained that the service is not resting on her laurels but remains committed in bringing all the Informal Sectors into the tax net.

He highlighted the breakdown of the successes recorded in 2023 IGR generation by the services, Hon Ighrakpata said the Service under his leadership did not only exceed the 2023 revenue target but performed extremely well

“The Service generated over One Hundred and Fourteen billion Naira, against the budgeted Ninety Five Billion Naira (95,000,000,000.00), surpassing the 2023 revenue target by over Nineteen Billion Naira” Ighrakpata added.

While maintaining that in the area of tax sensitization the service will need the support of the civil society of Nigeria noting that the mandate of the revenue services is to generate more revenue for the state government.

He lauded Gov Oborevwori’s commitment in driving the Infrastructural development of the state noting that Oborevwori came Prepared to deliver democratic dividends to the People.

In his 8 months in office, Gov Oborevwori has done a lot in terms of Infrastructures, he has embarked on the construction of three flyovers Project in the twin cities of Warri-Effurun which will be handled by the Julius Berger Construction Company.

“As a tax eligible individual, when we pay our taxes, we will continue to witness more Infrastructural development in the state and it’s visibly clear that Gov Oborevwori is making judicious use of the taxpayers money” he added.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation who doubles as as Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on civic engagement Comr Rex Anighoro noted that the aim of their visit was to congratulate him on his appointment as the Executive Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Services and also to partner with the Service for an elaborate engagement of citizens, establishment on the needs to pay their taxes.

He said it takes resources to deliver the dividends of democracy to the People adding that the Ighrakpata’s led administration has showcased capacity and commitment in generating more revenue for the government for an accelerated infrastructural development

Highpoint of the visit was the decoration of the revenue service boss as a commander of Civic Society by the leader of the delegation, Comr Rex Anighoro.
